Athens Music Week 2022 – First Artists and Speakers revealed

For the 4th consecutive year and at a defining moment for the local and global music scene in the post-pandemic era, Athens Music Week is back on June 22-24, with an eye to the future, taking place in 3 venues:  Technopolis, Bios and Temple. Three days full of discussions, presentations, workshops, speed meetings, networking events, not to mention showcase concerts and a big closing live event on the main stage of Technopolis!

Experience things “from the inside”, be acquainted with people and networks that will help you promote your music to the rest of the world, learn what role domestic media plays and how there can be more opportunities for new artists while discovering ways to increase your music revenue and find out what is happening with NFTs in Greek music and arts. What criteria are Greek radio producers using to promote the next hits? How is trap positioned in contemporary Greek pop culture? How can you properly create your wiki page, what does Tik Tok have to do with music, and how important are social fans in the end?

The showcases are the ones that set the rhythm in and out of the Technopolis as, this year, the live shows are back and present in two neighbouring venues, Bios and Temple. The Showcases programme combines new and timeless trends, focusing on promoting Greek musicians and introducing foreign artists to the domestic scene, among which Christos Kalkanis Solo, Coslee, Hume Assine, Iota Phi, Kolida Babo, Lia Hide, Monnodic, Supersonic Elephant Club, The Bonnie Nettles, Transparent ManVASSIŁINA, Wera & NickZimbruZulu 3.4.

Moreover, for the first time in Greece, we will welcome representatives of two of the most active international networks for the independent music sector, Impala – Independent Music Companies Association and International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), aiming to grow the independent music sector sustainably, return more value to artists and increase access to funding and the newly established Music Tech Europe, which aims to create synergies and opportunities between the technology and music industries. Thus a unique opportunity is designed for international networking, exchange of good practices and broader consolidation of the local industry.

In addition, the Hub for the Exchange of Music Innovation (HEMI) organizes pitch sessions. It presents the 30 European start-ups selected this year by the HEMI Incubator that provide innovative solutions to critical issues in the music industry, with the ultimate goal of promoting social change, diversity, sustainability and creativity in an evolving sector where art, science and entrepreneurship converge.

As every year, Athens Music Week ends its activities with a big closing live concert on the Main Stage of Technopolis City of Athens, with a surprise line-up to be announced a few days before the festival!

Athens Music Week is organised by MESO Events and Technopolis City of Athens, with the support of the European networks Hub for The Exchange of Music Innovation (HEMI) and JUMP – European Music Market Accelerator, two projects co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
