HEMI @ ESNS 2022 – FRI 21 Jan | Conference Channel 4 | 13:30 – 14:30

Panel-Discussion: From the Baltic to the Balkans – United Toward a Balanced and Competitive European Music Sector.

Various differences must be taken into account when adopting development strategies from matured music markets to the music region of Eastern Europe.

To start from a demographic point of view, the audience is significantly smaller and younger, has a lower income and is less adapted to new technologies. On the other hand, local labels and publishers do not see many business opportunities to invest in local music. Music scenes consist of freelancers and micro-enterprises that remain self-managed and try to survive with various economic activities, which are oftentimes not related to music services, and the lack of structures makes it difficult to measure the statistics of the music sector’s impact with the help of which it could play a more significant role in the eyes of policy-makers.

As an answer to the challenge to establish a sustainable, diverse and competitive European music sector as a whole and also to answer the challenges and opportunities for the development of the regional music markets, HEMI – The Hub for the Exchange of Music Innovation has emerged with a clear purpose: to benchmark Central, Eastern and Southeastern European music professionals through innovative transversal and holistic approaches.

HEMI presents: From Baltics to Balkans

Strangely enough, the world occasionally feels more connected now than before as we’re mostly meeting online no matter how near or far. Still, some regions seem to have a harder time in making themselves heard than others and the road to/from some places just seems so damn long and complicated. In this session, we’ll discuss what has worked for artists from the more ‘exotic’ and ‘rural’ areas in Western Europe’s sense in breaking out of their region, how we can support our local scenes in doing so and how to become more connected.

➤ Speakers:

• Login Kochishki, Goalkeeper at Password Production, Founder of Taksirat Festival
Anca Lupes, Founder of Mastering the Music Business (DigiPRO)
• Juliana Volož, Agent at JV-Promotion
• Mark Dieler, Project Manager of Cindy & Kate
➤Moderator: Balazs Weijer, Programme Director of MOST Music and Head of Programming at Hangveto

It helped us recharge our batteries so that in 2021 we will have a hybrid edition – part online and part offline, to be sure we will be able to comply with any regulations will be in place by that time and in the same time to continue to fulfill our purpose of supporting the local industry to thrive.”

CEENTRAL SOUND – BACH CONFERENCE 15-17 September 2021

How can the music can make a comeback after pandemic? Main question for a music conference in Brno

How can the music scene can make a comeback after pandemic? That’s the main question for RECONNECT: CEENTRAL PARTY – BACH CONFERENCE – IMMF CEE MEETING, a unique collaboration that brings clubs, managers, bands and other music professionals together. The event is going to happen on 15th – 17th September 2021 in Brno powered by SoundCzech and BACH (Brno Club Association) with a help of Music Managers Forum Czech Republic.

“It was an absolutely lucky match as both organizers wanted to debut an event to help be better connected. After few months of discussion, we got to our current mindset, in which it all seems more like a joint platform that connects us than two separate events” says SoundCzech Márton Náray. “We have been and expecting to face hard-shifts and many changes after COVID in which we believe the only way out is together. That is the motto of this collaboration.”

On the first day SoundCzech invites local and international professionals to share their view about the recovery of the music sector, boosting regional music scenes as well as talk about digital possibilities, new cultural entrepreneurships and label relations among others.

The second day of the conference will be powered by BACH and will focus on topics around the club scene, local and international networks and tourism relations.

The whole event starts with a highlighted zero day: The regional meeting of Music Managers Forum, co-organized by IMMF (International Music Managers Forum, Music Managers Forum Czech Republic).

Athens Music Week 2021 returns in a hybrid format, with lots of music, innovative web events and a very special live stage!

From the 22nd to the 26th of June 2021, Athens Music Week (AMW) will be back at Technopolis Athens, to offer insights around all facets of the music industry, through selected talks, workshops, seminars, showcases, and a grand live event.

How can Greek musicians make a name for themselves in Greece and abroad? How large is the loyal following of the Greek Hip-hop scene, and what are the latest trends in Greek music? Does gender balance exist in the music industry? What do Spotify, Bandcamp and Clubhouse have in common? How can you build a music career via Tik Tok? What are Copyrights, what are Royalties, how do they work, and what does blockchain technology have to do with them? Is virtual reality the future for concerts? And how does this relate to Fortnite? What is cultural management, and which opportunities can propel Greek artists into the international charts from the comfort of their own couch? Do music and reality tv competitions actually help the artists who participate in them? And how does a professional chef feature into all of this?

This year’s Athens Music Week conference will be focusing on all these topics and more, spanning all facets of the music industry, from recording and live gigs, to copyrights and the future of the music industry, to the current music trends.

Like every year, the AMW Conference will be hosting experienced and acclaimed representatives of the local as well as the international music sector, while market experts and insiders will be sharing essential tips & tricks in workshops, seminars and webinars, specifically designed for artists, students, amateurs and professionals.

At the same time, AMW will be presenting a rich showcase program featuring unique and exciting music from the best up-and-coming artists representing various genres and countries, while offering Greek participants the chance to create their own original audio-visual material, which will be broadcast during the festival.

Finally, subject to health conditions at the time, AMW Main Stage, a grand multifaceted music event, will be coming live on the main stage of Technopolis Athens, always in compliance to public health regulations and protocols.
